Thanks to opening a new dental clinic within the university hospital, the university community now has access to comprehensive oral healthcare. Inaugurated on October 10th, 2021, by Vice-Chancellor Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson and University Management, the clinic also doubles as a vital training center for medical students.
The long-held vision for a Dental School at KNUST, initiated under former Vice-Chancellor Professor Kwesi Andam, was realized in 2006. Professor Alexander Acheampong (Head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Sciences) highlights the school's success. The school now trains over 210 dentists in Ghana and globally. Due to increasing enrollment (285 students), a new clinic was deemed necessary to supplement existing training facilities at the Komfo Anokye Training Hospital.
Vice-Chancellor Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson's focus is on maintaining KNUST's excellence. The new Dental Clinic underscores this commitment. She thanks the hospital leadership and praises the staff's resilience during the pandemic. Reminding everyone of KNUST's reputation, she calls for upholding the highest standards of care. The Vice-Chancellor promises management's support in the pursuit of high-quality healthcare.
